2024-2027 National Opera Association – Dominick Argento Fellowship for Opera Composition
A three-year fellowship that covers my tuition and living expenses until the completion of my DMA in composition at UMKC. This fellowship is awarded to an outstanding opera composition student selected from an international open call.
2025 Lyric Opera of Kansas City / No Divide KC “Come As You Are” program
Fellowship cohort where I was paired with a librettist to create, workshop and premiere a new short opera for kids, performed and staged by artists and members of the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. The product of this fellowship was the opera “A Song For All”.
2025 Koch Cultural Trust travel grant to produce the opera “Lira dos Enganos”
Travel grant to spend a week in Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro – Brazil to assist in and coordinate the final steps of the production of my opera “Lira dos Enganos”.
2024-25 Resident Composer, UMKC Fellowship String Quartet (2024–25)
Worked closely with the UMKC Fellowship String Quartet in the creation, workshop and premiere of a new piece for string quartet. The product of this residency was the piece “There Where I’m Not”.

Part of a multimedia installation, the piece is paired with a sculpture and projections. Part of the exhibition “Shifting Tongues”, on display, at Charlotte Street Foundation from November 14 to January 3, 2026
2025 “Lira dos Enganos”, commissioned by FELINI (Festival Lírico de Niteroi)
One-act opera with three soloists, choir and piano, produced and staged at the second edition of the Festival Lírico de Niteroi, on August 8 and 9, 2025.
2025 “A Song for All”, commissioned by No Divide KC and the Lyric Opera of Kansas City
Product of the “Come As You Are Fellowship”, as mentioned before. Premiered on May 12, 2025, at Zhou B Art Center, Kansas City.

2025- Composition Teaching Artist; Lyric Opera of Kansas City, MO
Hired by the Lyric Opera of Kansas City to work with high school students at Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts teaching the curriculum of Music! Words! Opera! I guide students in the creative process of writing, producing and staging their own opera at the end of the year. This initiative introduces young artists to the world of opera while fostering their musical creativity and storytelling skills.
2025- Mentor for undergraduate student at UMKC
Weekly, one-on-one supplemental hour-long lessons to a composition major, sophomore student.
2021-23 Instructor of Record, Aural Skills; Louisiana State University; Baton Rouge, LA
Taught two sections per semester to undergrad music majors with diverse music backgrounds; developed and implemented course syllabi, lesson plans and classroom materials; daily exercises in sight-reading, melodic/harmonic/rhythmic dictation, transcription, and composition exercises; provided individual and group feedback; evaluations consisted of recitations (sight-singing), dictations and composition assignments; Strived for clarity and consistency in instructional delivery, adapting to various learning styles and skill levels.
2021-23 Teaching Assistant, Music Theory; Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA
Assisted Dr. Jeff Perry in undergraduate theory courses by grading assignments and exams, holding office hours, and substituting lectures as needed; conducted one-on-one tutoring sessions to review course subjects upon students’ request, providing tailored exercises and timely feedback; aided students by revising concepts and exercises outside of class time.
2022 Evaluator, NAfME Student Composition Competition. Online.
Evaluated and provided written feedback to 10 young composers (high school) who submitted their compositions to the NAfME Competition. Covered works from two categories, Composition and Songwriting.
RADIO:
2025- Graduate Assistant for Broadcast Curation and Coordination; 91.9 Classical KC
Co-creator, host and co-producer of an hour-long, weekly radio program that showcases recordings of performances from UMKC Conservatory ensembles, students, faculty and alumni; I catalog and curate UMKC archival recordings to build programs; I write the scripts for the shows and promos; I record and edit the shows using Adobe Audition; I create the website pages for the shows; I seek for permissions to broadcast pieces that are not in public domain.
2020-21 Creator and Host for “Sala de Música UFRJ”; Rádio UFRJ; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Bi-monthly, one-hour radio show featuring interviews and recordings of UFRJ music students and ensembles (14 episodes total); the program was aired through Radio UFRJ, aiming to showcase the school’s artistic output to a broader public audience; managed all aspects of production, including student artist outreach, audio editing and mastering of amateur recordings, script writing, hosting, and promotion; recorded and edited full episodes using personal equipment, with interviews conducted via Zoom; created and maintained the show’s social media page on Instagram, handling graphic design, episode promotion, audience engagement, and calls for participation; all episodes are available on streaming platforms in podcast format.
